Surprised by all the bad reviews..!
By Adam_Murphy, 2015-04-25

Wow, I came on here to download this theme for a second time – only to see that all the reviews given were 1 stars. I have used it with great success on my website vondt.net (sorry, its in norwegian – but you should be able to see that the design works flawlessly). I haven’t used the slideshow function though, as I see most negatives are aimed at that function.
Yes, it did have some hickups in the original source code, but these were quite easy to fix.. feel free to contact me via the website or otherwise and maybe I can help you out.

WPZOOM, beyond terrible
By Salpetriere, 2014-10-25

WPZOOM, this theme is deplorable.
I implore everybody to stay away from this theme. It does not work.
I’ve spent nearly a full day trying to get it up and running, with no success. I’m now going to have to look into the use of another theme. WPZOOM have therefore cost me a significant amount of money.
With the terrible quality of workmanship on this theme, one can only assume how poorly constructed the rest of WPZOOMs products are..
It appears that WPZOOM are not forthcoming with support for the theme unless you join their paid forum, which costs $200 to sign up. See the following support thread – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wpzoom-academica-homepage-slideshow-question
If that is the case.. nice little money maker there WPZOOM!!
One also wonders how WordPress allows such a terrible pieces of work to successfully get through their vetting system. Not happy WordPress.
The inability of WordPress to implement a decent quality control system for submitted themes and plugins is starting to become a more frequent issue for me. Dealing with issues like this costs me a lot of money.
It’s times like this I start thinking about moving to another content management system. I never hear of such issues with Joomla.

Broken & Convoluted
By dogmaD55, 2013-05-25
via wordpress.org
This theme is incredibly convoluted. It failed to install 3 times before it worked and once it did work errors immediately started showing up everywhere. The slide-show does not work. The only information provided by the developers on getting it to work is “install Jetpack, activate, and look under the reading menu.” This doesn’t work.
As of right now this theme is broken. If it isn’t broken, there is not nearly enough documentation provided for someone who isn’t well versed in programming to make it work.
I intended to install this theme, play around with it, then buy the premium version. I will no longer be doing that; if the free version is broken I assume the paid version is too.
