Good

My son started a site using Simple, adding images and content in the Frontpage Featured, About, Testimonial, etc. sections. I suggested he create a child theme to avoid problems when Simple gets updated.

After creating child theme using One-Click Child Theme plugin, images and content added to site do not appear. Instead, child theme uses original content included with theme.

What’s needed to create a child theme of Simple that will use content already added?

I have been reading the bad reviews and I just dont get it. What do people expect from a free theme? The features of a Premium? That´s just ridiculous.

Of course WP Simple has a few downsides to it, but which free theme doesn´t?

Personally, I find it easy, quite manageable and customizable, functional and aesthetically cool.

A few downsides I found, which I´m going to mention just to highlight them to the creators for development, not to critisize them, and which are the reason behind my 4 rather than 5 rating:

1. No image logo can be uploaded
2. Dropdown navigation parent not an active link (i´ve been explained the reason behind it by Support. It makes sense and it´s totally justified. A completely different thing altogether is that user may not like it).
3. Boxed content in regular static pages. My view, shoud be full width or at least have the option to choose.

I´m sure as I progress with the theme I´ll find a few more things I don´t like but, I insist, one just has to take a position to take it or leave it, it´s free, for goodness´ sake. What do people expect from FREE themes? Geez.

I have to say I am so happy with the Simple Theme by Nimbus Themes! It is super easy to set up, has lots of great features, but not too much to be overwhelming. It is one of the best one-page themes out there, and is exactly what I was looking for in a one-page theme. Even for the free version, it has options and flexibility unlike most other free themes.

I had a couple small issues, and when I requested help in the support forum I got it. Each time I submitted a question or response, they responded promptly and took care of me. I did not have wait around for days or weeks to hear back from them. Thank you to Sabaina, who didn’t stop working with me and my site until the problem was resolved! She was a huge help.

I am greatly impressed with the customer service and support I have received, and with the great looking theme!

The theme doesn’t even let you change the details on the front page unless you ‘upgrade’.

It makes the whole wordpress experience unpleasant when people create spam-themes.

Unlike some of the other comments on here using the free themes and not getting access to essential features, I actually purchased a $39 membership and STILL don’t have access to all the features of the theme I bought. What’s worse is that Nimbus advertises ‘support’ yet I’ve contacted them twice and still no response. In my last email to their customer support I requested a refund for false advertising. We’ll see how much they’re concerned with their quality of service. WordPress should not affiliate themselves with Nimbus!

This beautiful theme works well as a paid, Pro theme; I was able to customize it to my specifications. The support was excellent. Note that purchasing the theme automatically enrolls the buyer in ongoing monthly billing for continued support. You must make a point of cancelling the subscription so you aren’t billed.

Avoid at all possible costs.

I really like the clean look of this theme, and was impressed by the support provided. Nice work!

As the name implies, this theme is pretty SIMPLE to setup/implement. However, I have run into a few snags based solely on my poor CSS skills. The support I have received from Kendall has been outstanding. Any problem that I have had has been answered (and fixed) by her within a couple of hours. To me, this is hands-down the most important feature of a theme – SUPPORT!

I’m a Nimbus fan now!

I LOVE the Nimbus Simple theme…and I don’t have a paid membership. The beautiful, large banner is what drew me to this theme and it hasn’t disappointed at all – I’ve been able to personalize it as much as I’ve needed. Plus all of the support that Evan Scoboria has provided (for my computer challenged brain) has been excellent – quick, detailed, and patient. I highly recommend Nimbus themes!

As others have pointed out, this “free” theme is anything but. You can only do the most basic of tasks without having to pay to be able to modify areas of the theme that every other free theme allows you to modify. WordPress should not allow this to be a choice of one of their free themes. BOOOOO NIMBUS.
