Athena Made My Site Shine !

I am quite new to WordPress but in a relatively short time, I was able to make a REALLY good looking site using the Athena theme. I upgraded to the PRO version so that I could take advantage of the additional features and I am VERY happy with this theme.
I read an earlier review where someone was complaining about speed – make sure that the images you use are a reasonable size for the web (well under 1 MB) and the Jumbotron moves along nicely.
Kudos to the authors.

I paid for the pro version and it never worked. Smartcat has not responded once to my support emails, and I am still unable to use the theme. Once installed it works fine, but once you begin to make changes like adding pictures to the jumbotron, logo, changing color of font, etc., it stops all of the widgets and also stops customizing. If I were to change something through the customize menu, it will not take effect at all. DO NOT BUY THE PRO VERSION! Use your money on a better theme. I purchased it because I liked the free version, what a mistake. A theme that doesn’t work, and developers that do not give you support.

Simply super

The theme is so elegant and clean. But free does not come with all the benefits as it is a bit hard to set it up although the developers done their part of having demo content displayed once you install the theme. Simply super.

Professional small business theme

I am currently using this theme for my small business site. It was very straightforward to set up and customize. Looks professional and has nice layout options. One improvement I might suggest (unless I missed it). It would be nice to have a blog template that shows your first # of posts. I saw the content-blog.php template, but have not found any way to apply that template to a page. Any ideas / suggestions are appreciated! Thanks for the nice theme!

Minimal support, theme doesn't function in Safari

This is really too bad, because it’s a great looking theme, has lots of customization options that you really seem to WANT in every other theme. They definitely did a great job! But here is the clincher –
Theme doesn’t work 100% in Safari. 19% of people use Safari. Big miss here.
AND
You only get support when you threaten with Paypal money back. Other than that, after you buy the pro version, don’t expect a response.

Really nice and simple to customise. Good if you want to create a professional looking site in a short time. Has very good options to change as and when needed.

It has potential to look and function fairly well. But here are just a few of the unresolved issues:
1) The email function does not work. Namely, when a guest types in all their data, then hits email, nothing happens. Additionally the second box title (in the email dropdown/widget) is tied to the action button – so if you rename it “Your Email Address”, it likewise renames the action button “Your Email Address” when it should still say “Send” or something similar. How can this error occur?
2) The main page logo title bar up top is small – if you attach a logo – of any size – it will be constricted by large top/bottom and left side margins, squishing your logo tiny… even smaller on the mobile appearance. This is useless for pre-designed logos.
3) In the Pages area, if you try to use bullets, forget about it. The bullets don’t work. The numbering does though.
4) As with many WP themes, inputing photos into the text/content on pages is messy at best. The arrangement is all over the place with photos mashing text, things aren’t lined up well, it’s not pleasant. This funcationality is adequate for a free, starter template.
5) The front page has widgets a, b, c, and d. You can customize the image behind widget a, but not b-d; in fact, they select a pre-chosen, unattractive color for your widget (c). Makes no sense why you can’t add photos behind these or at minimum select the colors (or omit the color that does not in any way match the rest of the theme, some bluish ugly green).
Well, three stars is being very generous because I suspect they’ll swiftly remedy these simple errors – the team seems to be responsive on the WP forum. Hopefully…
